[FIX] Googlebot cannot access CSS and JS files on your website

Today in Early Morning many webmasters across the world got an Email from Google Search Console Team that “Googlebot cannot access CSS and JS files on your website” In our case at Engineers Corner we also got a similar message in a e-mail that Googlebot cannot access CSS and JS files on http://www.engineerscorner.in/. Many Webmasters are worried what to do with their website & what not to do. 

 

In the Explanation to this Google Said that Googlebot cannot access your JavaScript and/or CSS files because of restrictions in your robots.txt file. These files help Google understand that your website works properly so blocking access to these assets can result in suboptimal rankings. yes, Your lots of Hard Work on your website may result in damage to your website & its suboptimal rankings.

So, How to Fix This Issue? How to Fix the Google bot issue? checkout the below steps to do so.-

  • Checkout the Blocked Resources in your Google webmasters tools (check if you found some .js or Plugin or something relates files)
  • Now Go to Fetch as google & Render it – Check whether same Page is opening for your Googlebot & your website visitors or not? (if the web page is same you don’t have to take any Action in this case)
  • If the Googlebot page is different than your Website visitors after rendering then just go to your robots.txt file & edit it from your SEO tools & Google Webmaster tools.
  • In your robots.txt file just remove the following line
    Disallow: /wp-includes
  • Now you’re Done !!!

As of now Google wants to access your css & .js files which wp-includes file block googlebot to access them. Recently WordPress also got updated with some changes.
