The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) officially declared the Karnataka 2nd PUC Result 2026 on April 9, 2026. Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa announced the results at a press conference, marking the end of a long wait for over seven lakh students across the state.
The headline number this year is hard to miss. The overall pass percentage jumped to 86.48%, which is nearly 13 percentage points higher than last year’s 73.45%. Girls once again outperformed boys, a trend that has been consistent in Karnataka board results for the past several years.

This year, the Science stream continued to be the strongest performer. Here is how all three streams compared:
| Stream | Students Appeared | Pass % (2026) | Pass % (2025) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Science | 2,92,645 | 91.69% | 82.54% |
| Commerce | 2,11,174 | 88.04% | 76.07% |
| Arts | 1,42,982 | 72.86% | 53.29% |
| Overall | 6,32,200 | 86.48% | 73.45% |
All three streams recorded a sharp improvement compared to 2025. Arts saw the biggest percentage-point jump, going from 53.29% to 72.86%. The Science stream remained the strongest at 91.69%.
One important change this year is that KSEAB lowered the minimum passing marks from 35% to 30% per subject, which has also contributed to the rise in the pass percentage. Students now need 30% in each subject and a minimum of 33% aggregate overall to clear the exam.
Shamanyu S. Shetty and Nandan Nayak both scored 598 out of 600 to share the top spot in the Science stream this year. Their near-perfect scores in a stream where lakhs of students compete for engineering and medical seats is an impressive achievement.
Disha from Alva’s College, Moodbidri, achieved a perfect 600 out of 600 in the Commerce stream, a rare feat. Another student, Aditi from Jain College in V.V. Puram, Bengaluru, also scored 600 marks. The Commerce stream saw some of the highest individual scores across all streams this year.

Coastal Karnataka, as expected, dominated the district rankings once again. Udupi topped the state with a pass percentage of 93.90%, closely followed by Dakshina Kannada at 93.57%.
On the other end, Yadgir recorded the lowest pass rate at 48.45%, reflecting the persistent gap in educational resources between coastal and north Karnataka districts. Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa acknowledged the disparity and said special evening coaching classes will be arranged in the Kalyana Karnataka region for students preparing for the supplementary exam.
| District | Pass Percentage |
|---|---|
| Udupi | 93.90% |
| Dakshina Kannada | 93.57% |
| Bangalore South | 85.36% |
| Kodagu | 83.84% |
| Bangalore North | 83.31% |
| Uttara Kannada | 82.93% |
| Yadgir | 48.45% (Lowest) |

The online marks memo is a provisional document. Your original marksheet will be distributed through your respective PU college once the board processes it.
| Paper Type | Minimum Marks Required |
|---|---|
| Theory papers (out of 80) | 24 marks (30%) |
| Science subjects (out of 70) | 21 marks (30%) |
| Overall aggregate | 33% |
This is a change from earlier years when the minimum was 35% per subject. The KSEAB reduced this threshold for the 2026 examination cycle, which has directly contributed to the rise in the overall pass percentage.
Students who could not clear one or more subjects have two options.
The first is the supplementary exam, officially called Karnataka 2nd PUC Exam 2. This is scheduled from April 30 to May 13, 2026. In a major relief for students, Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa announced that the exam fee has been waived for this attempt. Students will not have to pay any fee for the second and third attempts this year. Special coaching classes will also be arranged in Kalyana Karnataka for students who need extra preparation support.
The second option is applying for revaluation or re-totalling if you believe your answer sheets were not evaluated fairly. The board is expected to announce the revaluation application window and fee details shortly on kseab.karnataka.gov.in.
The gender gap in pass percentage continued this year. Girls recorded a pass percentage of 88.70% compared to 83.65% for boys. This pattern has held consistently over the past several years in Karnataka board results, and the 2026 data shows the gap has slightly widened compared to previous years.
Of the total 7,10,363 students who registered, a significant portion were female candidates, and their stronger overall performance lifted the state average considerably.
For students who passed: The next step is undergraduate admissions. KCET 2026 is the primary gateway for Science stream students seeking seats in engineering and medical colleges in Karnataka. Commerce and Arts students can apply to degree colleges directly through the university admission portals. Start shortlisting colleges and check their cutoffs now.
For Science students targeting NEET and JEE: Your 2nd PUC marks will be required as part of the eligibility verification for NEET UG 2026 and JoSAA counselling after JEE Main. Make sure your marks memo and documents are ready.
For students appearing in Exam 2: Exam 2 dates are April 30 to May 13. You have around three weeks. Focus on the subjects you need to clear, and take advantage of the coaching sessions being arranged in your region.
