NASA’s Undergraduate Summer Internship Program 2016 (PGGURP)

NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) invites application for the NASA’s Undergraduate Summer Internship Program 2016 which is also known as NASA’s Planetary Geology and Geophysics Undergraduate Research Program (PGGURP). About NASA: The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is the United States government agency responsible for the civilian space program as well as aeronautics and aerospace research.President Dwight D. Eisenhower established the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in 1958[5] with a distinctly civilian (rather than military) orientation encouraging peaceful applications in space science. The National Aeronautics and Space Act was passed on July 29, 1958, disestablishing NASA’s predecessor, the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA).

About The Internship:

At NASA’s Planetary Geology and Geophysics Undergraduate Research Program (PGGURP) students will work with mentors to do research on various projects running under NASA, USA. Students from all over the world are invited for this summer internship.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • You have not previously participated in PGGURP.
  • You are in the college or university graduating class of 2016 (or later), and have not yet begun graduate studies.
  • You are interested in learning about research in planetary geoscience.
  • Preference given to U.S. Citizens and permanent residents.

Awards & Stipend:

  • NASA will pay for your travel to and from the host institution.
  • NASA will pay for your housing while you’re at the host institution.
  • NASA will pay a cost-of-living stipend ($250/week for 8 weeks).
  • We also pay up to $1000 for you to present the results of your research at a national conference.

Selection Criteria: 

Students are selected on the basis of their academic record, personal statement, academic letters of reference and also by the skill sets requested by the NASA mentor. At NASA official website they have mentioned that a  selection committee meets in February. Students will be notified in late February, and should respond within 2 days of receiving our offer.
