Review – ASUS Zenfone Live |Good for going Live but not Value for Money

ASUS recently launched Zenfone Live which was purely focussed on Live broadcasting with it’s all new in built beautification app for Social media broadcasting. ASUS is continuously trying to launch specific technology in a smartphone for a specific targetted audience be it Selfie Camera, battery life, Slim design or Live broadcasting. This time also ASUS launched a premium look smartphone for a targetted audience who like to do Live broadcasting within the budget.

ASUS launched Zenfone Live for just Rs 9,999 /- but is it worth the price? Do we really need a specific smartphone for Live broadcasting? How is the ASUS Zenfone live? Let’s find out in our detailed review below –

ASUS Zenfone Live Design and Display Review-

The Zenfone Live design is very sleek and comfortable, the phone is designed beautifully and makes a good grip in hand. It comes with perfect 5 inch display along with 2.5D glass that curves at the edges and resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels.  The Zenfone Live has the rear camera and flashlight at the left upside corner and we can see ASUS brand name in the middle.  On the front we have the front camera along with the flashlight for better picture in low light.

ASUS Zenfone Live has a plastic body but the most positive and best thing about Zenfone Live is that it is a very light weight with only 120 gms and it is very handy and portable.

ASUS Zenfone Live Performance Review:-

ASUS Zenfone Live comes with 4 year old technology with a Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 processor with Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 and GPU Adreno 306, It has capacity of 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory which is enough for any budget smartphone as it also expandable up to 256 GB memory. After using this phone, the performance of the phone was quite disappointing for us as we expected by its processor. You cannot play high-end games on this smartphone.

You can see the below antutu benchmark score which very low in this budget smartphone as compared to other competitors. while multi tasking and using too many apps the smartphone started struggling and apps suddenly stop working.

ASUS Zenfone Live Camera Review:-

The Zenfone Live camera comes with the 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera, This it doesn’t have any laser technology but it comes with a flashlight on both rear and front side. We were expecting the camera would be good but as you can see in the pictures below the camera was below average, talking about the rear camera we found that in this budget range of smartphone even the Moto G 2nd gen camera was much better as we compared while the front camera was good actually but the beautification app does make a huge change to your face, We found that the front camera doesn’t give the natural look. The Zenfonne Live has all the features like Super Resolution, Backlight HDR mode, QR reader mode, Low Light mode, Night mode, Selfie mode, Panorama mode, Beautification, and Time Lapse effect modes, Full-HD video recording.

As far as the live broadcasting is concerned it does makes a justice in that field with the help of BeautyLive app, the live broadcasting experience was good and the picture quality comes fair enough along with the sound quality in Live video.

Here are the Camera Samples:-

ASUS Zenfone Live UI (User Interface) Review:-

The Zenfone Live sports the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow(which is again not the latest one) and ZenUI 3.5 for added personalization which makes its user interface very easy. the bloated pre-loaded apps make the smartphone UI bulkier and useless you cannot uninstall the apps, you can only disable them but it takes around 6GB + by the system out of 16 GB which a negative part of this smartphone.

ASUS has always given right to personalize your smartphone according to your need from user interface, Home, wallpaper, menu everything.

ASUS Zenfone Live Battery Review:-

ASUS Zenfone Live is equipped with 2650 mAh battery which non-removable, ASUS again disappoints us with the battery in this budget price range it is not even 3000 mah battery, ASUS focussed battery life only with Zenfone max series smartphone, at this price range you can get 3000 mah battery easily in the market.

if you need gaming experience or more multi tasking then battery might disappoint you but for normal usage and Live broadcasting, it can help you last long for a day.

ASUS Zenfone Live Verdict:-

Coming to the verdict of the ASUS Zenfone Live we would suggest our readers that if they really use social media Live broadcasting then they can make this as a choice but again the price of this smartphone makes us think again because at Rs 9,999/- every brand is coming with budget smartphone and competition is very high and one can easily get better smartphone with great features at this price range. It would be great and pick for us for live broadcasting if the price drops, that’s the reason after in depth review we came to the conclusion that this smartphone is not a value for money.
