Review – ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 – Best Budget Smartphone with Max Battery

ASUS recently the month of December 2018 launched ASUS Zenfone Max M2 Pro in a budget mid range smartphone and today we will give you our review about this Smartphone. We used this Smartphone for more than a month and you will love it for many reasons because it has a very few cons which rarely matters if you need a stock Android, better battery life and decent camera. And unlike any chinese company you may believe on this brand if you’re a ASUS fan.

ASUS launched ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 with 3GB/4GB/6GB RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB ROM. Zenfone Max Pro M2 also got the price cut recently and always on offer some or the other day. The Zenfone Max Pro M2 is available at Rs 11,999 for 4GB/64Gb variant and Rs 13,999 for 6GB/128GB variant.

ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 Display –

Coming straight to the display of Zenfone Max Pro M2 it has IPS LCD panel with capacitive touchscreen and 16M colors, It comes with a top notch however we found that the bottom chin could have been better by making it more thin and to provide more display area. The awesome part is it comes with the all new Corning Gorilla Glass 6 which is shatter and scratch proof as per the company and no other Budget range smartphone comes with gorilla glass 6 not even flagships.

This display has 403 ppi density with Front glass a complete plastic body with fingerprint scanner (rear-mounted). The plastic body helps in making the phone light weight but iit gives you shinny finish to look a premium Smartphone but if you are using it without cover you may face various scratches and your fingerprints on the back panel.

It does have the 3.5mm Jack and a micro USB charging slot which is again disappointment for those who love C-Type. Overall the display and design looks good as per the Budget phone perspective and weighs only 172gm, The phone is also very handy and can be used by one hand. The display has very vibrant colors and looks really nice.

ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 User Interface (UI) –

Looks like this time ASUS heard the feedback of their users and provided the stock android on this device. The User Interface is very smooth and user friendly like any other stock android smartphone. There is no bloatware apps and it source android however there are some pre-installed apps which are you use in your daily life like flipkart, facebook etc and you may remove that as well.

The Max pro M2 comes with Android Oreo 8.1 and as promised the pie update is round the corner. The Android Pie 9.0 update is already in beta stage and the stable version will be released very soon. There is some Zen UI features like double tab wake and night mode etc, also it come with all the necessary Google application and Widevine L1 support but unfortunately it only supports WiFi upto 2.5GHz and not 5GHz. If you are a stock Android fan the you will love the UI of this phone in the budget range segment.

ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 Camera –

Zenfone Max Pro M2 sports a dual camera with 12MP and 5MP (depth sensor) camera along with a LED Flash and front facing camera comes with 13 MP with EIS mode on both the cameras. in the camera department ASUS camera UI works a bit slow, the dynamic range of the camera was fine but not hat good you cannot see the blue sky and the object completely at the same time the images will be exposed.

While checking the camera i found it has all the mode like AI mode, portrait mode etc but the picture came out to be decent and i was disappointed because the sensors used are good but not optimized with the software. However i tried the GCAM the google camera and the results were amazing the pictures were really good and you will find the difference in the pictures.

ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 Performance –

The Zenfone Max Pro M2 has a powerful 1.95GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC with octa core processor which is the latest chipset for all the mid range budget smartphone near Rs 15,000. CPU consist of Octa-core (4×2.2 GHz Kryo 260 & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260) and it has a GPU of Adreno 512. The processor is under clocked at 1.95 GHz, while using multiple application and multi tasking on this phone it works perfectly it do takes a seconds of time when using lots of application at a time unlike high end processors but works very well and smoothly.

We got the 4GB/64GB unit and we played small games to high end games like PUBG and Asphalt at the balanced graphics settings which is recommended for this phone and it was working very well without a lag. So from performance point of view thumbs up to the zenfone max pro m2 as the whole experience was good.

ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 Battery –

The ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 battery is the main advantage of the max series and make the smartphone more powerful. It has 5000 mah battery capacity to keep you going for more than a day with full usage. The Battery backup of this smartphone the key specification of this device. when we used this device it almost survived for 1.5 – 2 days with mixed usage.

Talking about the charging time it, this is the worst part because it takes almost 3 hours and some times more than that to fully charge the device from 0 to 100%. Although, logically it will take that much of time because it s even giving you battery backup for more than one day but gain there so many competitors in the market with 4000 mah battery to 5000 mah battery with fast charging support. In the latest update ASUS brought the fast charging update through the software as it has micro usb port and the software OTA update did made some changes and reduced the charging time by 30 ~ 45 minutes.

The ASUS Zenfone Max battery has the powerful battery backup of 5000 mah battery and the best part is when you hold the phone in your hand you won’t feel that the battery is heavy, ASUS engineers have worked hard to make it light weight battery without compromising with it’s performance and it is slim and light weight phone.

ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 Verdict –

Okay, let’s come to the point whether you should buy this phone or not. I would say Yes, you should only if your budget is below 15000 and you are stock Android fan with latest Android pie flavour, decent camera ( the stock camera could have been better but you may use GCAM for better picture) and a big battery backup.

But now a days the redmi Note 7, realme 3 and Samsung M series are already in the market so you have to choose as per your need but it’s not a bad choice. This smartphone is good in the Budget range.

The Zenfone Max Pro M2 is available offline and online exclusively on Flipkart.
