  • P (Pass) carries 4 points for 45 to 49 marks.

AKTU CGPA to percentage conversion formula

AKTU has two official percentage conversion formulas. The simple formula used widely in placement applications and job forms is: Percentage = CGPA × 10. So a CGPA of 8.0 equals 80 percent.

The more precise formula from the official AKTU ordinance is: Percentage = (CGPA − 0.75) × 10. For example a CGPA of 8.0 gives 72.5 percent using this formula. Most Indian companies and government applications accept the simple CGPA × 10 formula. Some universities and foreign applications may ask for the detailed formula. Our calculator shows both values in the results so you always have the right number ready.

AKTU division and honours classification

AKTU classifies B.Tech degrees into three categories based on final CGPA. First Division with Honours is awarded for CGPA of 7.5 and above with no active backlogs at the time of degree award. First Division is awarded for CGPA between 6.5 and 7.5. Pass is awarded for CGPA between 5.0 and 6.5.

A CGPA below 5.0 means the degree cannot be awarded and the student must clear remaining backlogs. For campus placement purposes most IT companies like TCS, Wipro and Accenture require a minimum CGPA of 6.0 while Infosys and Cognizant typically require 6.5. Core engineering and PSU companies generally require 7.0 or above.
