Update – Regarding AKTU / UPTU Special Carry Over Exam 2016-17

AKTU / UPTU today released an official circular regarding conducting special carry over exam (SCOP) 2016-17. Recently many students from the AKTU / UPTU affiliated college from Noida as well as Lucknow region went on strike with ABVP to conduct special carry over exam 2016-17 for Fail and PCP status students and submitted a memorandum of appeal to the university vice-chancellor in the presence of registrar and controller of examination. Students also went to the University for appeal for other various issues like incomplete results, marking error, etc.

In response to the student’s memorandum of appeal on carry over to university today J.P. Pandey, Controller of Examination, AKTU released a circular regarding special carry over exam. The circular clearly state that in the academic year 2016-17 the University applied the rule for CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) from 2016 – 2017 academic year onwards but now the university has decided in the favour of students to make the CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) from on or before 2015-16 batch students.

What is CBCS (Choice Based Credit System)?

So, The question is what is CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) and what does it mean to you. So, According to this new circular of special carry over exam from now on All the students admitted in their courses on or before the year 2015-16 will be eligible for CBCS. In CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) a student who gets at least 50% or more credits in Theory & Practical both will be Promoted to next semester or say next year.

Previously this rule was 60 % that means, those students who gets 60% credits in Theory & Practical Exam both will be promoted to next semester/year but now the university has reduced it to 50% in favour of the students. So, for example, Now if you have a total 40 credits then you only need 20 credits to get promoted in next year or next semester and have to appear for regular carry over examination if there is any back paper.

AKTU / UPTU will Conduct Special Carry Over 2016-17 or Not?

Well, After getting the above official circular by the University, and After complete analysis by our Founder Yatharth Singh and our team at Engineers Corner, We found that It looks like AKTU / UPTU is not in the mood to conduct special carry over exam this year. There are various reasons why this year NO Special Carry Over Exam (SCOPE) or Mercy exam shall be conducted. Here are some strong points by AKTU why they will not conduct Special Carry Over Exam.

  • It is now too late, and yet no circular regarding Special carry over or mercy exam has been released, while every year in August a circular is used to released officially but not this time, which means the university will not conduct any future Special Carry Over.
  • As They have already officially released the 40 Marks grace rule, and many students will get benefitted by this rule which will automatically make many students pass the exam and promoted in next year as all they need is at least 15 marks in the paper.
  • Today, they have released an official circular to give CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) to all the students of the year 2015-16 or before as they will get 50% credit benefit to get promoted in next class.
  • Before, this AKTU has already released a circular last year and also in 2014, 2015 that they will never conduct any Special Carry Over Exam for 1st, 2nd, 3rd or the 4th year while the final year students were eligible for mercy paper only for 7th and 8th sem.

We suggest students to wait till the 1st week of September for result update and any circular for carry over exam. Check if you are eligible for 40 marks grace rule, else, you need to appear for special carry over exam 2016 -2017 (if conducted) otherwise the only option you have is to appear in regular carry papers conducted every year at the end of each semester.
