Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has expanded its SUV offerings with the launch of two new models: the FRONX and JIMNY. These vehicles cater to both new-age SUV enthusiasts and off-road enthusiasts. Both models are equipped with high-end powertrain technologies and draw on Suzuki’s SUV heritage.
The compact FRONX SUV is set to introduce a fresh design trend in India’s SUV market. With its innovative design, powerful performance, advanced technology, and safety features, the FRONX offers a new dimension to the segment. On the other hand, the highly-anticipated JIMNY off-roader is expected to appeal to both passionate off-roaders and traditional SUV customers. Originally launched in 1970, the JIMNY has a unique design and all-terrain capability thanks to Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO 4WD technology.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV
The FRONX, a new compact SUV from Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is specifically designed for young, aspirational car buyers. The company aims to appeal to young trailblazers who want to stand out and set the trend with their unique choices.
The FRONX features a modern exterior design with an aerodynamic silhouette and a proud stance, with upright front and rear facia, roof rails, and a wide bonnet that gives it a commanding road presence. SUV design elements, such as chiseled wheel arches, muscular fenders, and side body cladding, give the FRONX a sporty look. The front of the vehicle features a signature NEXWave grille, chrome garnish, and signature NEXTre crystal block DRLs, exemplifying NEXA’s unmistakable “Crafted Futurism” design language. The rear of the vehicle features a sculpted upright profile accentuated by wide sweeping LED Rear Combination Lamps running across the width of the vehicle, creating a unique NEXpression.
The interior of the FRONX is youthful and modern, with a sense of spaciousness and bold design elements. The Black and Bordeaux contrasting color scheme fits into NEXA’s brand philosophy seamlessly. The dashboard has a special forged metal-like matte finish to highlight the FRONX’s rugged character, which is further accentuated by high gloss silver inserts.
The FRONX is available with multiple powertrain options, including an all-new 1.0L K-series Turbo Boosterjet Direct Injection engine with Progressive Smart Hybrid technology, and an Advanced 1.2L K-series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine with Idle Start Stop technology. Both engines are available with a choice of 5-speed manual or AGS transmission.
The FRONX also comes with a wide range of connectivity features such as Head Up Display with turn-by-turn navigation, 360 view camera, wireless charger, 22.86cm (9”) HD Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and an in-built next-gen telematics system Suzuki Connect. The infotainment system also boasts premium sound acoustic tuning through “Surround Sense” powered by “ARKAMYS”, offering signature ambiences created to suit various moods. The JIMNY (5-door) is unveiled to the world today and will be introduced in India first, followed by Suzuki’s global markets. The JIMNY is built on the 4 essentials of an off-road machine – Ladder Frame Chassis, Ample Body Angles, 3-link rigid axle suspension
and ALLGRIP PRO (4WD) with low range transfer gear (4L mode). ALLGRIP PRO offers extreme off-road ability to meet the driver’s spirit of adventure.
