Whatsapp has started rolling out for some of its users which is on invitation based, yes you need to have invite only for to use the voice calling feature on whatsapp. Though you also need to update your Whatsapp to the latest version right now the update is not available on google play store but you can find an .apk file of whatsapp for the same on internet by doing some little bit research either on github or elsewhere.
