Ryan International Academy Bavdhan Students Champion Wildlife Conservation with Animal Adoption Initiative

Demonstrating their commitment to wildlife conservation and environmental sustainability, students of Ryan International Academy, Bavdhan have launched an inspiring initiative by adopting a leopard and a bear from the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park, Katraj. The school has pledged ₹75,000 to ensure the well-being of these animals—covering a year-long adoption for the leopard and a three-month guardianship for the bear.

This initiative is a testament to Ryan International Academy’s holistic education approach, which extends beyond academics to nurture environmental responsibility and wildlife conservation awareness among students. The adoption program helps provide essential resources for the animals, including nutrition, medical care, and habitat upkeep.

The project is a student-driven effort involving the entire school community—from Montessori 1 to Grade X, along with teachers and non-teaching staff. Through this hands-on experience, students gain a deeper understanding of ecosystem dynamics and the importance of preserving biodiversity.

Ms. Ruchi Masih, Principal of Ryan International Academy, Bavdhan, emphasized the educational impact of the initiative:

“At Ryan, we believe education extends beyond textbooks. This initiative not only supports wildlife conservation but also instills a sense of responsibility and empathy in our students. By taking tangible action, they are becoming proactive environmental stewards, prepared to protect our planet’s fragile ecosystems.”

The Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park has welcomed this community-driven conservation effort. Dr. Suchitra Suryavanshi, Deputy Director of the zoo, highlighted the importance of youth engagement in environmental efforts:

“When students take the lead in conservation, it sends a powerful message about the future of our planet. These young minds aren’t just learning about environmental issues—they’re actively working towards solutions.”

To strengthen their bond with the adopted animals, students will receive regular updates and photographs, fostering an ongoing connection and continuous learning about wildlife preservation.

As urbanization threatens natural habitats, Ryan International Academy’s initiative sets a remarkable example of how educational institutions can play a crucial role in wildlife protection and environmental sustainability. By integrating experiential learning with conservation efforts, the school is empowering students to become responsible global citizens dedicated to preserving nature for future generations.
